TRAINING
Across California, CASA programs serve highly diverse populations and face unique community challenges. California CASA believes the best way to sustain a strong and thriving network is through opportunities for professional development and training.
Serving the State through Training Opportunities
Our training programs, featuring expert lecturers and child-welfare specialists, range from an annual multi-day leadership conference for Executive Directors/CEOs to webinars and in-person classes for CASA staff and volunteers to specialized training on such subjects as juvenile justice, DEI, and organizational development.
California CASA hosted its first large state conference in 20 years, welcoming nearly 350 attendees to 50 educational sessions over three days, in Costa Mesa in September 2024. Outstanding speakers including John Quiñones, Kids in the Spotlight, Chadwick Sapenter, and youth formerly part of the foster care and juvenile justice systems, brought the theme “Breaking Barriers and Empowering Change” to life. In addition to networking, learning, and sharing of best practices, the event was an opportunity to acknowledge partners such as local judges and former State Assemblymember Mark Stone who accepted the inaugural “Champion for Children” award for his longstanding support of children in foster care.
